Untapped Fashion & Music, is a project which was conceptualized by Jordana of Jordana PR International; to get designers & musicians world-wide the recognition deserved, during the biggest event of the year in most metro cities – Fashion Week! The event was created in order to help the fashion & entertainment industry throughout the economic crisis our country is currently facing, as Jordana is hoping this event will become a global movement. The inauguration was executed in New York City, where Chak Chel also showcased, on September 12th, '09 during Fashion Week; and created a huge splash! With it being such a success, Miami had to be next!

New York Fashion Week - Sept '09

With all this
craziness in the atmosphere, the rain clouds and wind gods must be throwing a fit. whew!!! But still New York puts on one helluva show. Bring 'em out, bring 'em out... I say. The eclectic, the chic, the super trendy, and the revered classic.

People watching is oh so much fun and though at times I myself may feel a bit like gosh, maybe i should have worn that instead, at that moment... you keep walking fiercely through the crowd. Why? Because you can.

Ok, so post pep talk... just wanted to say how thrilled I(we) at
Chak Chel were for having met the amazing Catherine Malandrino. Her event was fab-U-much!!!

Fell in love with her black on white sheer dresses with black bird feather detail and the very cool arms for necklines and waistbands. With adornment in the form of chains and metal beading (grommets, nail heads, etc)... her rockish-feminine-chic-but not over the top looks won us over. Now just have to figure out how I get one these fineries into that closet o'mine.

Until the next installment... adieu.

In the Arms of Anneli... Sculptor & Artist

A day in the life of a Bridgehampton-ite... finds me in many a place. From the beach to the store front streets but the most memorable mark was made by an amazing hidden gem, in the form of sculpture and etchings... the works of Anneli Arms.
http://www.anneliarms.com/index.html

Dragonfly (Detail)
Polyurethane, wire, acrylics, epoxy
36"x110"x80"

Owl
2-pl etch. Scraped aquatint, carborundum
24"x18" plate size

Anneli Arms has always been a questioning soul. The 72-year-old artist has never been interested in painting picture-perfect flowers or idealistic landscapes. Instead, her haunting sculptural work ponders some of life's bigger questions: Who are we? What are we? Are we nothing? Are we something? Where does it all begin and where does it end?

The intricate detail and awesomeness of her pieces are sheer talent to put it mildly. Not sure if the word beautiful would do her sculptures any justice but you find yourself taken back by pieces like her fully-in-flight dragonfly (above), the whimsical almost Edgar Allen Poe illustration-like head sculpture in dark grey, and the haunting depths of her owl print (above).

Difficult not to be inspired when graced with such mastery. And so carrying on, putting the flashbacks into play as one rewinds the video highlights, I bid you adieu... for now.

Thank you Anneli (and John) Arms and Kenny for welcoming us into your space, your world, your story. WOW!!!

To say the least... what a FANTASTIC experience a la Bridgehampton.
We shall return...

More things included a day on Cameron Beach, dining at Pierre's, and browsing/shopping at SURevolution. The balance of this post is found at www.facebook.com/saudially in the notes section.
